What You Will Learn

Jan-Tore Oevrevik teaching photography during a golden-hour field session
The Dolomites offer a wide range of conditions—from lakes and open meadows to steep mountain peaks. This workshop is designed to help you handle these situations with confidence and consistency, focusing on both technique and decision-making in the field.
  • Using circular polarizers with purpose—when to reduce reflections and when to keep them
  • Working with ND filters to control water and cloud movement
  • Using HDR and exposure blending for natural, balanced results in high-contrast scenes
  • Creating panoramic images with proper overlap, bracketing, and filter use
  • Balancing aperture, shutter speed, and ISO for different lighting conditions
  • Choosing focus points for sharp results from front to back

During the Workshop

Instruction is adapted to your experience level, with one-on-one guidance during sunrise, sunset, and evening sessions. You’ll work on making decisions in the field—how to approach a scene, refine composition, and respond to changing light. The goal is to help you become more consistent and confident in how you shoot.

After the Workshop

After the workshop, you’re invited to an optional online review session where you can share a few images, ask questions, and follow part of the editing workflow. Selected participant images may be featured in the online gallery.

★★★★★
These workshops were by far the best I've ever experienced. The attention to detail, small group, and perfect locations were exceptional! With it being all inclusive, I was free to concentrate on my photography - with excellent guidance from the instructors - and enjoy the amazing locations. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

★★★★★
The JTO Photography workshop (my fifth in 3 years) was way above my expectations. From fantastic shooting locations to professional teachings, accurate and personal, we were welcomed into a group of like-minded photographers that made the whole experience something to remember. This is a tribute to the mindset of the organizers who carefully selected accommodations that were well located and positively charming. This workshop was a highlight in my photography journey, and I am ready for more!

★★★★★
As a "Plus 1" on their recent Dolomites workshop adventure, I didn't know what to expect. I was blown away by the venues; the sunrise/sunset locations and vistas; the hotels and group camaraderie; the daytime traveling and great meals; as well as the careful planning by the JTO Photography Team. The daily adventures were personally rewarding for someone with just a cell phone and loads of confidence in the leaders. There was a lot packed into 8 full days of my experiences. The memories resurface whenever I look at my Italy - Dolomites files. If ever a workshop deserves an A+ grade, this is the one! (And I'm not even the photographer in the family!)
